LA FEMME aus Paris sind eine der angesagtesten französischen Bands. Ihr retro-futuristischer Crossover-Sound aus french cold wave, psycho wave, good vibes, fun, stereolabesquem Indie-Synth-Pop und 60’s sounds umschifft geschickt alle Genre-Schubladen und wirbelt spielerisch Erwartungshaltungen durch die Luft. “Mystere” ist ein Schmelztiegel hypnotischer Stimmungen mit etwas mehr Psych-Pop und etwas weniger Punk-Rock als sein Vorgänger. Aber der Style und Sound bleibt typisch LA FEMME.

LA FEMME

Gegründet wurde die Band 2010 vom Gitarristen Sacha Got und dem Keyboarder Marlon Magnée in Biarritz. Ihr energiegeladener Versuch musikalische Vorlieben zu Musikstilen wie Cold Wave, Punk, YéYé und Surf hypnotisch zu vereinen machte sie schnell in ihrer Heimatregion bekannt und trieb sie anschließend weiter nach Paris. Dort dynamisierten sie ihren Sound durch den Bassisten Sam Lefevre, den Perkussionisten Lucas Nunez Ritter, den Schlagzeuger Noé Delmas und der Sängerin Clémence Quélennec. Dank ihrer kraftvollen Liveshows avancierten sie in der französischen Hauptstadt ebenfalls schnell zum Stadtgespräch.

Die wilde Fahrt von LA FEMME begann 2010 mit dem sensationellen "Sur La Planche" und führte sie seither durch Venues quer durch Europa und USA. Ihr erste Album “Psycho Tropical Berlin” zeigte bereits ihre große Leidenschaft für Vintage Sounds und formte leichtfüßig Psychedelic, Rockabilly, Electro, Punk und Surf zu einem psychedelischen New-Wave Rave gefiltert durch den Back-Katalog von The Ventures. “Psycho Tropical Berlin” schaffte es an die Spitze der französischen Digital-Charts und LA FEMME wurde bei den French Music Awards von Großen wie Jean Michel Jarre und Hedi Slimane mit Lob überhäuft und als Beste Newcomer Band des Jahres ausgezeichnet.

“MYSTERE”

Drei Jahre später melden sich LA FEMME nun mit dem neuen Album “Mystere” zurück, bleiben ihrem Sound und Style treu und erweitern dennoch erneut ihr musikalisches Spektrum. So sind Einflüsse aus der Filmmusik von Ennio Morricone, der Disco-Rock touch von Marie Et Les Garcons oder die drogenschwangere Romantik von Velvet Underground herauszuhören. Auf mehreren Songs kommen sogar Streichinstrumente zum Einsatz.

Zwei Songs wurden in Paris von Stéphane “Alf” Briat (Air, Aline, Mustang) abgemischt, alle Anderen von Sonny Diperri (Animal Collective, Hanni El Khatib) in L.A. Wie schon auf ihrem Debut-Album sind auch auf “Mystere” mit Clara Luciani, Jane Peynot, Naomi Greene, Mathilde Marlière, Angela Hureau, Battista Acquaviva, and Sarah Ben Abdallah viele verschiedene Gast-Sängerinnen zu hören. "The perfect female voice probably doesn’t exist so there are several singers on the album and it fits well with the group name. It suggests that the woman is a mystery."

“Sphynx” war die erste Vorab-Single aus dem kommenden Album. Ein spektakulärer elektro-pyscho Song mit dem dazugehörigen, halluzinatorischen Video. « Sphynx is neither a japanese influenced fairytale happening in Egypt in 3087 before J.C, nor a chemical introspection questioned by Sphynx. “Ou Va Le Monde”, die zweite Vorab-Single, ist eine universelle Hymne an das Leben und die Liebe. La Femme surfen dabei auf ihrem typischen Vintage-Sound. “Ou va le monde is not about the matrix system, neither about the climate warming nor a song about the migrants crisis. Ou va le monde is still a song about human beings, about life, about Love. Because everything is contradictory, and everything is one and only, because now is in the end of the past and the beginning of the future. Future is sounding pretty uncertain. So, Where is the way of our World ? “

Wie immer schaffen LA FEMME viele Bilder im Kopf: «September will begin, a little bit of spleen, Summer is ending” (Septembre); « Leve the hate aside, move on and let her go” (Elle ne t’aime pas) ; « A wave deforms. A wave reforms » Vagues). Das Album endet mit Vagues, einem 13-Minuten Song inspiriert von Brian Eno und Pink Floyd.

LA FEMME sind immer hypnotisch und ihr Sound wechselt gerne von agressiv und dunkel, ins fröhlich-unbeschwerte, doch stets haben sie dabei das Ziel vor Augen Menschen zu berühren. “To touch people, to be touched by people and generally protest against worldwide assholes.”

Im Oktober sind LA FEMME auf Tour in U.S.A. (mit Red Hot Chilli Peppers) und UK, am 19. November spielen sie in Berlin im Binuu. Unbedingt live erleben !!
